Background
At sixteen, Raphael was one of the youngest holders of a glider license in federal history at the time. He started his professional career during school as a part-time employee at Kaufland at the cash register and then decided on a commercial apprenticeship in retail. In order to finance various trips abroad, he sometimes worked for several months at McDonald’s. Raphael then studied law at the Universities of Heidelberg and Madrid, where he received a scholarship.
In Heidelberg, Raphael worked for a leading executive search consultancy in life science for about four years, initially as a student trainee and later as a freelance personnel and management consultant.
After completing the first state examination in law in Heidelberg, Raphael did an internship for several months with Michael Roth, Member of the Bundestag and Minister of State in the Federal Foreign Office.
His legal clerkship at the Higher Regional Court in Frankfurt am Main took him to the E-staff of the Foreign Office and to the German Embassy in Lima, Peru. During this time he worked as a research assistant at SGP Schneider Geiwitz, a leading German law firm in insolvency law, and freelance for a Berlin lawyer who in turn advises startups in particular.
He has been working for a Frankfurt hedge fund since it was founded and advises in particular on compliance issues and corporate law backgrounds.
Until mid-2020, Raphael was also (late) co-founder of an international startup and, as managing director and in-house lawyer, headed the expansion of a data-based forecasting tool using artificial intelligence.
Raphael speaks German, English, Spanish and a little French. He has been a member of the SPD and the DLRG for over a decade and has since traveled to more than 70 different countries on five continents.
